Dining Table Face-Lift

After PCSing to Washington, my husband found an apartment and started scouring Craigslist for furniture. Low and behold he hit the jackpot of junky goodness.

It came with two extra leaves and a six pedestal base. We used it for a few weeks until we found another table we liked better for $10. Yes an obvious upgrade - we are big spenders around here. So this one had to say goodbye. Since it was sort of an eye sore I decided it needed a little pizazz. Ready for the 'After'?
Not too bad huh? Lets look at the base a little closer.

I sanded, primed, and painted the base and legs in a soft white. Then hand distressed each leg until I liked the look. The sides of the top were also scuffed a little to add some character.

The top was already finished and pretttty shiny so I wasnt up to tackling refinishing that. So I used my trusty Goo Gone, shined her up and now she looks beautiful.

Shes missing the middle base part but hey, you get what you pay for I guess. And for $5 we can't complain. Shes ready to move on to her new home!

First Post

Faded Furnishings is about my adventure decorating my first home, and learning about what I love and how to transform furniture to fit my personal style. I had virtually no knowledge of how furniture refinishing worked until I read some fabulous blogs that gave me the courage and inspiration to try it for myself!

I've made a lot of mistakes but I learned a lot from each one and I'm sure there will be plenty more in the future! Stick around to see what I uncover and repurpose.
